The Year 2000

RecruitIreland.com as it looked in 2000

Sinead Johnson, our Sales Manager, remembers 2000 as the year Y2K dawned the computers of the world didn’t go mad and all was well.

And so I found a new job with RecruitIreland.com. I started very late in 2000 – Oct 16th to be exact and arrived into 5 Union Quay, nervous and excited about joining RecruitIreland.com.

9 years ago, I had a lot less wrinkles, no grey hairs to hide and well, I was 9 years younger!

That gang was always up for a night out and many is time that a pint after work turned into full on night on the town. You had to be prepared for anything! The last 3 months of 2000 and my first 3 months were a lot of hard work, lots to learn and great fun.

It’s hard to believe that were still using punts and pence. Kerry won the All Ireland Football final and Kilkenny won the Hurling (some things never change!) Bob the Builder had the Christmas No1, France beat Italy 2–1 to win Euro 2000 with a golden goal and the 2000 Summer Olympics were held in Sydney, Australia.

Marketing in 2000

This year we began our "Time for a Change" campaign. The creative tapped into a bored workforce encouraging them to come to RecruitIreland.com where you could have instant access to thousands of jobs online. Here are two press ads from that time, see if you remember them.
