General discussion about life and work and life!

In 2001....

2001 was a mash of firsts, milestones, babies, and travelling.

The site had a number of firsts, it reached 1 million page impressions, scooped 2 silver ICAD awards for the “Leaf” advert, encouraging job seekers to turn over a new leaf. The monthly Jobzine & Ezine began- a natty text update of news, advice and industry updates, while the design has changed from those days the content of the newsletters still remain true to the original.

Hot jobs started on the site in 2001, born out of an idea by Gill, where advertisers could bump their ads to the top of the list.

RecruitIreland.com ran a hugely successful conference with Ronan Daly Jermyn Solicitors entitled- "HR Challenges and Legal Issues for Today’s Economy". Mary Harney, Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment at the time, was guest speaker.

The staff had a team building day in Oysterhaven where there was kayaking togged up in wetsuits, some sort of activity in a swamp and secret telling where everyone discovered that Sinead was pregnant. Legend has it that the night out after the team building involved so many shots that an ex staff member who will remain anonymous had to be escorted to bed by means of a wheelchair…..

Gill decided to head off out to the big bad world in October, so everyone bid her a fond farewell as she boarded the plane to Australia. Winter 2001 was the worst recorded year for Cork’s pubs as a result.

Sinead welcomed a baby boy, Danny, into the world at the close of 2001!
