General discussion about life and work and life!

The year was 2002

November 12, 2009 12:13 by rebecca

In 2002 the RecruitIreland.com office rose to the top, the top of 15 South Mall in Cork that is. Everybody complained about the number of steps they had to climb to get to the office but nobody complained about the thigh firmness that resulted. The office was described as being “on a slant”, “freezing” and “had a strange smell”. The Marketing Manager’s office was half kitchen half toilet. Sinead spent most of this year on Maternity Leave after having her son Danny, so Vicki got to boss everyone around instead.

Late in 2002, Gill made her return from Australia, tanned and skint, Tom took pity on her after posting her bail in Oz, so he gave her a week to sober up before expecting her back in the office... Eight years on, she reflects by saying "if I'd killed someone I'd have been out by now".

2002 was a year for awards. We won the Golden Spider Award for Best Recruitment Website and the “Time for a Change” campaign won an IAPI award for excellence in advertising effectiveness in Ireland. The site was redesigned to a more familiar purple, this design lasted until 2005.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings added to it’s portfolio by acquiring the Sunday Business Post this year.

Also this year:

Euro notes and coins were issued in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Finland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Ireland and the Netherlands.

Rebecca moved from Scotland to Ireland (but worked somewhere else)

Brazil won the 2002 Fifa World Cup for a record 5th time

The Queen Mother Died in March

PS. You can enter Day 4 of our competition here and win a Mug! (2 mugs actually and they are cool)
