Supply Chain Director, Europe biologics

Our client is a rapid growing multinational biopharmaceutical manufacturer. This newly created position will report to Global Logistics Director in USA, will be located in Dublin and will oversee the European operation for all customers order fulfilment activities from a rapidly expanding distribution network.

The Director is responsible for the design and implementation of systems that will allow the different area managers to coordinate the distribution to meet inventory targets, and for the introduction of new artwork to meet commercial launch of new presentation and on going packaging and labelling changes. Responsible for implementing systems to ensure the proper transportation and cold chain custody of drug products across the supply chain.
Develop and manage a budget.

The Supply Chain Director will:

  • Meet inventory targets
  • Work closely with Country Managers across Europe
  • Work closely with the Company supply chain organisations
  • Work Closely with Finance to ensure proper book keeping
  • Work closely with Regulatory and Quality to ensure proper compliance in each country
  • Ensure proper contracts are in place with CMOs
  • Ensure proper staffing and organisation needs
Responsibilities for The Supply Chain Director:

  • Help prepare and review plans for new product introduction taking into account:
  • Commercial Demand
  • QA released process lead time
  • QC testing requirements if necessary
  • Packaging and labelling Requirements
  • Understand the cold chain custody until the product is delivered to our internal customer. This includes an assessment of commercial methods, validation requirements and processes relative to product technical specifications
  • Review third party distributor performance including contract and communications
  • Responsible to setup and to operate the European supply chain operation meeting
  • Develop and review key performance indicators and metrics relative to the supply base
  • Review packaging and labelling projects ensuring the package product is on time for launch of new presentation, and new labels to existing products
  • Evaluate and change processes to enhance supply chain performance
  • Develop systems and implement procedures to ensure a flawless control of the logistics
  • Responsible for the sale and order processing for all Europe
  • Support the creation of Asia Pacific supply chain
  • Develop 5 year staffing plan
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to be able to engage confidently with key stakeholders at all level across the organisation
Good communicator
Strong understanding of Biologics manufacturing and cGMP processes, as well as new product introduction
Exposure to a global operation
Ability to understand and work with a number of different cultures
Understanding of ERP systems and processes

Degree level education or equivalent experience
Fluent in English and knowledge of an additional language strongly preferred Ability to own complex issues and to use experience and data to drive changes to systems, processes, practices or procedures.
Must be effective in influencing decisions and multi-functional priority setting across boundaries and possess the personal capacity to enrol and energise the right people in developing and executing strategy and tactics.
Ability to analyse and interpret information about the supply chain for effective and successful resolution to problems that occur because of inadequate supply or incorrect forecast.
Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Visio.
25% travel required.
