Financial Accountant with 5-7 years experience including experience in a manufacturing multinational required for permanent role with leading company in Athlone.

Reports To: Financial Controller

Position Summary:

The accountant assistant will report to the local Financial Controller and along with the Finance team will be responsible for ensuring data is process on a timely basis and recorded accurately.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Monthly Management accounts for local and corporate management.
  • Review of accounts payable entries and upload to general ledger.
  • Ensure supplier payments are up to date.
  • Co-coordinating payroll with the payroll providers.
  • Perform month end accounting activities, ensuring the proper accounting and valuation. This includes, but is not limited to journal entries, accruals, reconciling general ledger accounts, statement preparation and analysis.
  • Maintenance of Fixed Assets, the records and record keeping, and depreciation
  • Monthly account analysis & variance reporting
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations & review to strict deadlines and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all Irish statutory & tax requirements
  • Review, modify and write accounting policies and procedures, as well as monitor adherence to the policies.
  • Development & implementation of internal financial & operational controls
  • Assist in development of rolling monthly forecasts
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget process
  • Ensure the Finance function continues to value add to the organization
  • Perform other financial accounting duties as required.


Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • PC skills with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet, automated accounting and financial planning system
  • Capable of working on own initiative
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience
  • Experience in a similar role in the manufacturing sector essential
  • Good analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate will need to be detailed orientated with the ability to take on a broad range of tasks and responsibilities over time
