Senior Health & Safety Officer

Urgent requirement for a Senior Safety Officer for a multi-national engineering practice for a full-time office based position. Our client employs over 8,000 people worldwide and operates across 2 continents'.

  • This position will be part of our clients national & International Mechanical & Electrical department reporting to the Head of Health & Safety.
You will be responsible for:

Ensuring compliance with: Safety, Health and Welfare Legislation, Site Safety Plan, relevant Method Statements, Safe Plan of Action, Company Health, Safety and Welfare Statement and ensure good safety practice is maintained.

  • Carry out regular site audits and inspection, provide reports and follow up on any corrective actions.
  • Attend Safety Meetings on site as required.
  • Assess Sub-contractors safety documentation and secure relevant documentation e.g. safety statements, method statements, insurances (EL/PL).
  • Carry out induction training for new employees/sub-contractors and maintain records.
  • Conduct toolbox talks.
  • Provide and maintain procedures appropriate to the needs of Safety, and to ensure their effective implementation.
  • Liaise with Site Staff and Management regarding Safety Issues.
You must have the following skills:

  • Relevant third level qualification in Safety.
  • On-site experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Strong Inter-personal skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • IOSH Member and valid Safety Training instructor is desirable.
