ASSISTANT DIRECTOR of NURSING SERVICES with 8yrs of progressive clinical & administrative nursing experience required by hospital is Saudi Arabia.

Position Summary

  • Directs the management and coordination of the nursing services in the Inpatient and Ambulatory areas.
  • Ensures consistency of nursing standards and management across all nursing services areas.
  • Ensures coordination of nursing services and surgical services through continuous collaboration with the Manager, Surgical Services.
  • Coordinates budget preparation and monitors resource utilization.
  • Deputizes for the Associate Administrator, Nursing Services as requested.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing;
  • BSN or equivalent is required;
  • Masters Degree in Nursing Administration or other relevant specialty preferred.
  • Current registered nursing license from country of professional practice.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience .
  • Demonstrated management / leadership ability essential; knowledge of JCI standards required.




Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic and Operational Management

  • Participates in nursing services strategic and operational management; in coordination with the Associate Administrator, Nursing Services, identifies immediate and long range objectives for nursing services; assists Nursing Unit Managers to prepare objectives, operational plans and strategies for implementation.
  • Coordinates budget planning; census projections and manpower planning for nursing services; coordinates the capital equipment planning for nursing services.
  • Directs management of nursing services through nursing unit and shift managers; ensures implementation of nursing service-wide programs; maintains a hospital-wide perspective in planning and management of nursing services.
  • Ensures the coordination of nursing services and surgical service through continuous collaboration between the Assistant Administrator, Nursing Services and Assistant Administrator, Surgical Services.
  • Facilitates the employment, training and development of Saudi nationals; actively mentors / coaches Saudi staff to develop career paths, and extend skills.
  • Monitors operational budgets for nursing services areas; sets priorities and coordinates effective and efficient use of resources across all nursing areas.
  • Makes recommendations for capital equipment purchase; assists in the preparation of MOH files for capital equipment acquisition; coordinates with Materials Management regarding evaluation of supplies and resolution of issues.
  • Coordinates the interview / selection process for nursing management positions (Nursing Unit Manager, Nursing Shift Manager, Charge Nurse); ensures completion of orientation and competency assessment programs for nursing management and nursing administrative staff.
  • Reviews all nursing services applications; ensures recommended candidates meet criteria; makes recommendation to AANS for candidate selection and placement; ensures nursing services recruitment / selecting / personnel procedures are in accordance with hospital Policy and Procedure.
  • Continually evaluates nursing management and nursing administrative staff; completes the PDPA's; provides effective and timely feedback; identifies staff performance issues; utilizes staff development plans; ensures continuing professional and personal development of nursing unit / shift managers.
  • Provides direction / support to Nursing Unit Managers in managing staff performance; reviews all nursing services performance appraisals for timeliness and completeness; ensures PDPA's are regularly reviewed, updated and reflect current job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates equity and fairness in managing staff issues; ensures consistency of approach in management throughout nursing services; advises unit managers / implements corrective action in accordance with hospital Policy and Procedure.
  • Demonstrate effective priority setting, time management and decision making skills in the management of staff and resources; ensures staffing schedules maintain nursing skills mix and competency levels across nursing services; implements plans to address periods of staffing and skills mix deficiency.
  • Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.
  • Performs all other duties as required or assigned.
