PURPOSE
A role exists for an experienced business Analyst to work as part of a team on high profile projects within the Global Operations Technology group in Dublin. Current projects include the build out of a Data Warehouse for financial transaction which will be used for a number of key initiatives in Compliance Surveillance, Brokerage and Client & Sales Performance reporting.
The role will provide an excellent opportunity to work closely with internal business partners and develop an understanding of a wide range of financial instruments (including Derivatives, FX, Futures, Debt, Lending and Commodities). It will also provide an excellent opportunity to undertake full life cycle tasks in a fast paced and evolving technology environment.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The team provide key solutions for our business users based across Europe, the US and Asia. We work closely with our technology colleagues in London and New York as well as with the other technology groups in Dublin. The team provides analysis, development and support services to our business users and we are involved at all stages of the software development life cycle.
All of our projects and initiatives require a combination of innovative technology solutions and a close partnership with our business users to ensure a full understanding of their business requirements.
The key languages/platforms used are .Net C# and MS SQL Server. Database development currently accounts for much of the work on existing projects. The mix of technologies in use is evolving and candidates must demonstrate an ability to quickly adopt new and updated languages/platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will be responsible for capturing user requirements and performing the initial feasibility study for any new projects or requirements.
- You will be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of the business requirements to ensure they are correct and meet the project standards and guiding principals.
- You will be responsible for preparing the detailed functional design specification, functional review and walkthroughs, achieve sign-off and to ensure the development teams fully understand the requirements.
- You will be responsible for producing project and resource estimates, and working with the project manager to co-ordinate the work into the overall project plans.
- You will be responsible for managing the delivery of the project into production. This will involve providing user support and management during the user acceptance phase.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Proven ability to work on own initiative in a fast paced environment with attention to detail
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to understand complex problems and to generate appropriate solutions.
- 4+ years post qualification experience in either a Technology or Financial Services environment.
- 3+ years experience of performing Business Analysis, defining Technical Requirements and producing Functional Design and Specifications
- 2+ years experience of working in a medium to large scale organisation with a complex technology infrastructure
- 1+ years experience of producing estimates and resource planning
- experience of developing test cases, performing User Acceptance Testing/Quality Assurance and managing the various test cycles
- experience of project leading/management and co-ordination with groups across both technology and the business
- Experience of working closely with business users at all levels
- Experience of working closely with technology groups located around the globe
- Experience of designing solutions implemented on Web based technologies and Relational Databases (ideally SQL Server)
- Ability and desire to understand investment banking applications at the database level i.e. understand database schema, database modelling, write SQL queries etc.
