Regional Manager Supermarket
BACKGROUND AND ROLE OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this role is to oversee the management and continuous development of a group of stores through the direction and motivation of the store management teams, ensuring strong retail disciplines are in place, implementation of plans, and consistency of standards across the group. The role will also help to ensure that store operations are aligned with company strategy and that company targets are met with sales, margin and cost management being key areas of focus. The Regional Managers will work closely with senior management and the Board of Directors regarding the development of short and long term strategy for the group
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Store Operations
Ensure operational efficiency of all stores.
Ensure systems and procedures required to achieve efficiencies are in place.
Liaise with Talent Manager to ensure that company HR strategy is aligned with business strategy and to ensure its implementation through Regional HR Managers.
Assess business processes which impact on shop operations to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved.
To ensure company compliance with all Retail regulations e.g. pricing etc.
2. Financial Management
Set all relevant budgets in conjunction with CEO/Retail Director.
Ensure company targets as set by the Board of Directors are met.
Set targets for individual store locations focusing on sales growth, cost reduction,
labour etc.
Review results against target on an on-going basis.
3. Standards Management
Ensure consistent standards are implemented throughout all stores.
Provide guidance on the development of best practice in food retailing.
4. Management Development
Monitor, coach, motivate and support store management teams.
Identify training needs required to up skill all Managers for the future in conjunction with the Talent Department.
vConduct structured performance appraisals with Store Managers and agree KPI's for each Manager which will form the basis of bonus payment.
5. Communication
Ensure effective communication with Store Management, Support Office and external contacts. Ensure an effective reporting process to all relevant levels in particular to Board of Directors.

EXPERIENCE
Experience of managing a number of stores/site locations, preferably in food retailing. Proven track record of operating at senior management level with the ability to communicate effectively at Board level.
Experience of operating at both a strategic and operational level.
Previous experience of managing organisational and culture change
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Strong analytical skills with a particular focus on P&L management
Understanding of sound business processes and exposure to best practice in the retail sector.
Broad knowledge and experience of the commercial realities within the retail sector.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A self starter with strong drive and energy with the ambition to succeed.
Ability to motivate and develop others to succeed.
