Benefits: A specialist credit and payment protection insurer seeks to strengthen its Dublin Underwriting and Actuarial centre of excellence by recruiting a Part Qualified Actuary for it's Senior Payment Protection Underwriting vacancy.

Job Description The main functions of this role will be Underwriting Policy, Pricing and Product Design, Budgeting and Business Planning, Reinsurance, Management of a small team of 8 junior underwriters.

Roles/Responsibilities
  • Awareness of legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Contribute to building/modifying the product offer in terms of contracting, pricing or new guarantees.
  • Implementing profitability and stress scenarios tests.
  • Collecting market and product statistics, benchmarks, market issues.
  • Submitting new pricing and underwriting schedules for sign-off.
  • Maintaining a table of pricing assumptions by product.
  • Drafting technical notes by product and by type of risk for submission to the underwriting manager.
  • Working on budgets and ad-hoc technical reports with the Development and Actuarial teams.
  • Implementing the approved reinsurance programme.
  • Reviewing reinsurance treaties produced by the Policy Servicing Executive.
  • Managing 8 junior actuarial staff, allocating their work and ensuring that timescales are met.


Skills/Experience
  • Experience in Non-Life underwriting and in Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).
  • Part-qualified Actuary with around 3/5 years' experience
  • English and French or other European language an advantage


Education / Professional Qualifications You should ideally be a Part Qualified Actuary within two to three exams of qualifying.

Personal Attributes This is a newly created position in a reasonably young team environment, so you should be prepared to bring your mentoring and leadership skills to the forefront. A people manager, you will enjoy leading and motivating staff, many of whom are at entry level stages of their careers.
