Automation Engineer with 4yrs experience with project management, design of production machinery, and commissioning of new or refurbished manufacturing lines preferably in a medical device environment required for permanent role in Athlone.

In this role you will provide technical leadership through sound project management principles in the provision of Automation, Robotics, Process equipment design-and-build and debugging expertise. Provide support and proficiency in the management of outside vendors and assist, where appropriate, in the design of machines for long-term production, ease of maintenance and operation. Responsible for delivering Capital Projects and 'Best Practice' methodologies that support highly efficient processes and consistent product output to the quality satisfaction of all customers internal and external.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:


1. Help identify automation opportunities and process improvements.
2. Help gather requirements for machine specifications.
3. Work with outside vendors to ensure compliance with developed machine specifications and schedules.
4. Lead a team of engineers in the development and debugging of equipment.
5. Carry out the commissioning and validation of new or modified production lines.
6. Travel will be required to include international travel.

Interested applicants should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science/Technology/Engineering related discipline (e.g. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
  • A minimum of 4 years recent experience with project management, design of production machinery, and commissioning of new or refurbished manufacturing lines preferably in a medical device environment.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications :

  • Machine controls programming and power distribution design experience - PLC, HMIs, Servos, Robotics, etc.
Skills/Competencies:

  • Previous project management experience to include formalised methodology.
Other Skills:

  • Well developed analytical, design, numerical and computer skills and the ability and versatility to combine hands-on process activities with theoretical knowledge and
