An international reinsurer providing insurance (life and non-life), financial services and other risk related business solutions with operations spread across 39 countries has an opening for a Reinsurance Claims Technician to cover off some maternity leave next year.

Job Description Ideally commencing in February 2010, this is a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave and represents an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Reinsurance Claims Specialist to bring their skills and knowledge to bear in a standalone capacity.

Roles/Responsibilities
  • To review claims for both proportional and non proportional treaties
  • Claims verification
  • Verification of Reinstatement Premium calculations
  • Preparation of large loss reports
  • Setting up of new claims in the IT system
  • Processing claims payments
  • Managment of claims records
  • Preparation of data for IBNR calculations
  • Handling enquiries from ceding companies, brokers and other reinsurers
  • Liaising effectively with other departments (Underwriting, Accounting etc)
  • Preparing retrocession renewal information
  • Checking relevant items in monthly operation check list
  • Managing qualifications for ceding companies, brokers and reinsurers
  • Entering treaty information onto the IT system


Skills/Experience
  • A minimum of three years prior experience in Reinsurance claims
  • A sound understanding of accounting and regulatory specifics
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (team player)
  • Ability to work on own initiative and willingness to take responsibility
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (particularly Excel)
