FINISHING DEPARTMENT MANAGER- Kilkenny - (Print Industry)

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Finishing Department Manager will be responsible for managing Finishing Department people and product. At a high level this includes the through-put of all work, the quality and standards, and the team performance.

Management of the Finishing Department

Finishing Department Manager is responsible for:

· overseeing all through-put and ensuring it reaches a high standard per schedule seamlessly through the department to the back door · manages the highest level of utilisation and quality output within strict performance targets and expectations· has knowledge and expertise across machinery and finishing equipment

· working on own initiative and managing the challenge of working under pressure with a busy team

· manages issues to conclusion when unforeseen conditions delay or alter schedules within the team

· deflects and resolves internal team disagreements and misunderstanding using HR, Production Manager, or as appropriate.

· Finalise finishing schedule and the priorities set

Within the team ensures finish quality meets and standards meet customer expectations, therefore the Finishing Department Manager has to ensure team members:

· meet their individual demands and deliver on time, per schedule and specification

· has knowledge or obtains knowledge across finishing machinery and finishing equipment

· liaise with Health and Safety to ensure that all H&S requirements are met

· consistently follow a schedule of work, chases jobs, and follow tasks through to their completion

· read all job bags and act according to specific instructions required of them

· checks contents of job bags for samples, proofs or other information that will guide their work

· collaborate with other team members and employees of the organisation

· undertake a 15 minute shift hand-over at each shift (problems, issues, information exchange to allow smooth production flow.)

· maintain professional attitude to assisting and helping colleagues

· have an excellent understanding of English, both verbal and written, and be able to absorb and communicate technical information

· maximise technical knowledge and know-how

· are reading job bags, follow guidelines, and are signing as appropriate

· raise the standards and eliminate repeat errors

· resolve or escalate problems quickly or as appropriate

Monitor and manage preventative maintenance

· Adopt and implement pro-active maintenance plans

· Maintain and clean equipment as outlined by individual machine manual per machine check list

· Act quickly and according to maintenance requirements

Implement best practices to maintain ISO standards

· Utilise ISO standards and processes as outlined

· Adopt an ISO mentality

Build strong working relationships with team members

· Remain calm and measured under pressure

· Focus with strong attention to detail and a desire for highest quality

· Adopt a flexible attitude to over-time and week-end work

· Apply strong organizational skills and is detail oriented

· Self managed and motivated

· Take ownership and responsibility of product and machinery and team
