Development / Product Engineer - South Dublin.
This is a contract position of between 3 and 6 months' duration.
Reporting to the Programmes Manager/Project Manager, the major duties and responsibilities of this position will include:
Designs, fabricates, modifies, evaluates and documents moulded assemblies, components, and systems to produce or improve company products and facilitate product development and manufacturing operations. Develops technical data and makes preliminary sketches, lay-outs and notes required to present design proposals. Researches basic design factors such as ease of manufacture (DFM), and development of test protocols and procedures.
May perform work in a specific sub-specialty such as New Product Development, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Mould Design, or Tooling.
Key Responsibilities and End Results:
• Design and develops complex sub-assemblies, components, and packaging as assigned.
• Develops and implements changes to product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements by participating in new product development programs.
• Develops technical proposals for product requirement specifications, document test protocols for component and device qualification
• Prepare detailed parts cost estimates for labour, materials, tooling requirements, test specification and material selections for existing business and new business inquiries.
• Analyses product failure data and laboratory test results and or conducts failure investigations (FMEA) in order to determine causes of problems and develop and implement solutions.
• Provides customer product design engineering for economic production; may participate in meetings with customers.
• Assesses proper material, tooling, automation and equipment selection.
• Works with manufacturing to trouble-shoot problems, upgrades, methods development, and the development of process parameters
• Participates in product development meetings and may make recommendations to product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.
• Conduct proof of concept experiments and design other testing requirements as needed.
• Develop SOP's operations and maintenance manuals.
• Research new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.
• May assume lead role in small or sub-section of large project, as assigned.
• Reviews completed projects for accuracy, clarity and completeness.
• Ensures projects are GMP compliant with all local, regional, and national regulatory requirements, codes and controls.
• Supports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Interested applicants for this role should have:
• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
• At least 2-4 years' related Engineering experience – preferably (not essentially) in healthcare/medical device
• Understand processes and has strong understanding of various manufacturing techniques
• Strong knowledge of engineering theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
