Supplier Management Engineer - Midlands.
In this role you will be responsible for oversight of the technical and daily operational management of external manufacturing partner(s).
Major Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage & partner with suppliers to develop business relationship to provide business operational control and agreed service levels.
• Ensure product availability from CM against build commitment & schedule
• Assist QA to implement & drive continuous improvement within CM in terms of product quality and service.
• Plan and conduct operational and technical projects with suppliers to drive effective cost structures and control.
Detailed responsibilities:
• Actively manage day to day operational & technical issues within CM.
• Track and resolve exceptions during qualification and new product introduction activities.
• Set CM operational performance goals and ensuring execution against these goals.
• Assure 100% product availability from CM at all times.
• Implement continuous improvement processes with CM in terms of product quality and service.
• Administer and drive programs and projects that deliver 'best in class' manufacturing metrics.
• Development of queries & analytical models to establish and support key business metrics & reports. - Develop dashboard style reporting tools & capacity models.
• Leverage business knowledge & supplier management competencies.
• Ensure comprehensive inventory management in the inventory tracking & reconciliation process.
• Initiate & drive product cost reduction and continuous improvement strategies with suppliers.
• Provide technical oversight, support and guidance to suppliers on design for process validation, design for manufacture (DFM) and process development.
• Technically understand vendor processes, provide engineering & validation support.
• Escalate potential supplier manufacturing and compliance issues to provide & obtain direction and decision making around continued production, supply and validation activities.
• Review and approve supplier change requests as well as company initiated change requests
• Monitor and control progress of supplier engineering projects, ensure sound application of engineering, provide project reviews where necessary.
- Educational / Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
• Experience of managing contract manufacturing or 3rd party suppliers.
• High understanding of GM, Regulatory, Compliance & Validation practices and expectations.
• Demonstrated competency in MS Access, Excel, Oracle/SAP/ERP & query development.
• Working knowledge of Quality Systems (FDA/ISO) within a regulated environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications/familiarity with inspection techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
• Strong leadership, decision-making & problem solving skills.
Additional competencies/requirements:
• Flexibility around working hours and travel.
• Motivated self starter with confidence to managing a 3rd party supplier is essential
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks
• Previous Injection moulding experience is an advantage.
