Hartley People are currently recruiting a Field Quality Manager on behalf of our client based in Carlow.

Remuneration: €30K - €40K

The Person:

  • Suitable relevant experience in Quality Control Manager position, preferably in an Engineering, Construction related or telecommunications environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate education in sciences, engineering, or business
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO9001 standard and certification guidelines
  • Ability to produce reports and deliver presentations to a professional standard
  • Ability to work concurrently with other managers and colleagues in such a manner as to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates an understanding of operating integrity and has high standards for compliance and quality
  • Capable of introducing new processes, procedures and systems to enhance the business, challenging convention and identify alternative ways of working
  • Must be able to operate with the least amount of direct supervision, self-organise, schedule, and prioritise workload and manage simultaneous activities
  • Commercially aware and proactively drives quality management to meet the requirements of the quality standards and client work specifications
  • Able to provide clear direction to direct reports and is able to inspire and motivate across the business
  • Direct experience of change management at a middle management level. Able to drive Quality Innovation & Change
  • Strong track record of successful team management
  • Experience/training in problem solving and process improvement methodologies
  • Ability to set direction for Quality department & deliver to goals and targets
  • This role will be predominantly based in the field & must be able to work around the country as required
  • Must be able to work ‘out of hours’ as necessary
  • Full clean drivers licence is essential
  • Fully competent in using Microsoft packages


The Role:

  • To develop the Quality strategy, policy and procedures for ICL, developing and delivering against processes and practices, ensuring that work is delivered to and exceeds client specifications & accredited quality standards
  • To pro-actively operate the Quality Management System, eg conducting Internal Audits, management of standards, ensuring compliance of quality standards
  • Implementation and promotion of a quality culture throughout ICL: training of individuals and groups on Quality Procedures, documents, and quality protocols
  • To conduct quality assurance verification audits of all areas on a regular basis to verify compliance with the quality management system and customer specification, driving corrective and proactive action plan
  • To support and empower managers across ICL to fulfil their Quality management obligations
  • To pro-actively & continually identify ways to reduce the number of quality fails throughout the business
  • To facilitate, coach, mentor, motivate and develop all employees to achieve and improve quality standards, acting on ideas and suggestions, ensuring their development and improved performance
  • To instigate performance correction where other measures have not worked
  • To ensure that strategic Quality issues are raised in a timely manner; adverse trends are flagged and take corrective action
  • To manage Quality relationship with the client where necessary
  • To manage Quality relationship with sub contractors ensuring work completed to appropriate Quality standards
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of and work methodically to improve the Quality Management System and its application
  • To establish and implement necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments
  • To co-ordinate and supervise the activities of Quality Assurance, Quality Systems and Quality teams through active task management and regular progress updates
  • Develops and manages a high performance quality team with focus on customer needs, compliance, product quality, and risk mitigation
  • Is viewed as a leader or expert in the areas of Quality, constantly promoting awareness of best industry practices and making appropriate decisions on a daily basis using the Operations Director as the final arbitrator on critical quality decisions
  • To develop and implement new techniques and initiatives to enhance the Quality management system on site and across the Company
  • To support, motivate and empower others to deliver against Quality initiatives through clear guidance, management, delegation and coaching
  • To comply with Company policies
  • To fulfil H & S responsibilities, adhering to the Company’s H & S policies and processes as may be updated from time to time
  • To support and practice the Company’s quality policy and work statements
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Company
