We are currently hiring for a Sybase IQ Guru for our client based in Galway/Westmeath. The location is easily commutable from Roscommon also. This is a permanent Master level position requiring a MINIMUM of 7-8 yrs experience in pure SYBASE development. Salary is negotiable depending on experience, our client will also provide VISA sponsorship for the successful candidate if required.

Job Purpose: Our client's product is an internal performance management application for multi-vendor and multi-technology environments. It collects and processes data for use in performance reporting, resource planning and service assurance. The Sybase IQ Guru is a technical expert with proven experience in data handling strategy and architecture, from collection, storage, indexing to retrieval. He/She will have experience in design of distributed data and metadata solutions to ensure optimal speed and efficient retrieval and querying. Responsibilities: As a Sybase IQ Guru, the main responsibilities are:
  • To ensure that the solution architecture is designed primarily for speed of storage, indexing, retrieval and querying
  • To decide how data and metadata can be distributed across solution for optimal speed and efficiency
  • To ensure that the cost of development and future enhancements is not prohibitive to further expansion of product offerings.
Qualifications Skills Required:
  • 7-8 yrs experience in lead design of real-time, or near real-time, database systems using Sybase IQ is ESSENTIAL
  • Expertise in other storage methods
  • Database Administration, tuning and optimisation skills
  • OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) oriented database design.
