Senior Production Engineer - UK (Southeast).

Our client, based in the Southeast of England, is a privately owned British manufacturing company, employing over 150 people in design, manufacture and support of their products, which are sold to more than 60 countries.

As part of their strategic development plans, we have been retained to recruit a high calibre Senior Production Engineer to join the team.

This Role will include:
Delivering quality production engineering solutions to operational, development, and production needs.
Working closely with Production & Operations to ensure continuous improvement in production operations and product quality, and to resolve issues during production and testing.
Working closely with Engineering & Design Department, to ensure new and adapted designs take into account ease of production, availability of components, commercial considerations and stock effectiveness.
Provide production engineering expertise into the design process to ensure product architectures are optimized and standardized for manufacturing, across product ranges, where practical.
Design and implement production processes for new products.
Take a lead role in transferring new products into manufacture, bridging between design and manufacturing, and actively working and proactively ensuring the resolution of startup issues.
Working closely with Procurement to ensure most appropriate components are identified and sourced, within the design specification.
Working closely with Sales to ensure new concept products take ease of manufacture and input components into account.
Helping and mentoring in the development of production operatives and supervisors.
Estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions and financial control.
Provide input, and manage changes within the facility layout and process, to refine material flow, material control and presentation, and to optimize assembly, final test, packaging and shipping process.
Working closely with the production and engineering departments to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures into production environments.

Interested applicants should have:

Extensive knowledge and experience of engineering, production and supply chain concepts, preferably in an electro-mechanical or refrigeration cycle environment.
Significant experience in the applications and implementation of modern and lean manufacturing techniques.
Experience in establishing and improving processes relating to material storage, control, flow and presentation.
An inquisitive mind and the ability to grasp new technology quickly.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of building strong working relationships across departments (and particularly engineering, purchasing, planning and production).
Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Ability to identify, understand and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
Organised approach with attention to detail.
Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive manner.
Some experience of CAD systems would be an advantage.

Education and Qualifications
Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing or industrial).
