Have you 2yrs+ experience in new production development within the food industry?

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced R&D Technologist to join a well-established food manufacturing organisation in a creative role with plenty of scope for growth and development.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of Consumer Food R&D including New Product Development while measuring and tracking performance of a range of consumer products. Liaising with internal and external parties, the candidate will provide an innovative, first class service to all involved in growing the product portfolio.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  • Development of new profitable products and processes.
  • Profitable commercialization of new consumer food product concepts, project briefs and variants.
  • Initiation, management and delivery of profitable continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring of key performance indicators related closely to the product portfolio.
  • On-going monitoring of relevant market, technical and legislative developments.
  • Efficient and effective co-ordination and interaction with all functions involved in New Product Development (NPD) and process improvement.
  • Maintenance and general management of all relevant internal processes for NPD and process improvement.
  • Providing a highly professional level of technical support to an international customer base and key plant based internal customers.
  • Involvement in additional projects and duties as required by the Business.
Requirements include:

  • A third level qualification degree in Food Science or related discipline is required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a NPD role with a track record of commercial delivery is essential
  • Excellent research skills and strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand the implications of project decisions within the wider organisation.
  • A team player with experience of delivering cross functional projects with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills is required.
  • A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills and an ability to see projects through to completion.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills is imperative to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Flexible and resilient with a ‘can do’ attitude and a proactive attitude towards NPD and process development.
  • Strong computer literacy with particular emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite.
