Our Client a US Multinational Pharmaceutical company is seeking to recruit an Experienced Analytical Chemist to join its operation in Sligo


  • Leading timely completion of all laboratory analytical method transfers.
  • Must build excellent interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Act as key point of contact for internal and external customers to lead projects through to completion.
  • Managing analysts working in assigned cells or teams to ensure that they are performing to the best of their ability, coaching and providing guidance where issues occur such as poor set-up or test execution performance.
  • Drive improvements in the overall efficiency and velocity within the assigned team.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements in analytical practices such as poke yokes
  • Ensuring that the agreed test schedule is adhered to and identifying recovery paths to bring test schedules back into alignment with plant requirements
  • Identifying weaknesses in laboratory performance and working with the laboratory manager to rectify these through performance management
  • Resolving and managing analytical OOS issues as they arise in a timely manner both through practical work and through GQMS
  • Acting as designee for the Laboratory Manager / QA Program Manager as assigned.
  • Ensuring 5S excellence is maintained across the Laboratory
  • Ensuring that all laboratory test equipment is utilised and maintained correctly.
  • Executing and / or supporting projects as assigned by the laboratory manager / QA Program Manager.
  • Maintaining up-to-date, complete and precise records of all tests performed.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for any analytical transfer issues which arise.
  • Developing expertise and understanding of current and future analytical techniques
  • Developing and changing of in-house laboratory procedures as appropriate.
  • Ensuring that all safety aspects of the role are adhered to.
  • Carrying out verification of testing records as necessary
  • Identifying potential safety hazards in the laboratory and liaising with Lab Manager / QA Program Manager and EHS Officer to resolve.
  • Positively contribute to departmental programs such as CI, BEx and RFT.
  • Develop talent within the organization
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of project management

Education & Experience

  • Degree Qualification in a relevant Science discipline, e.g Analytical, Organic/Inorganic Chemistry essential. Post graduate qualification, e.g. MSc / PhD, in a relevant science discipline a distinct advantage
  • Must be expert in HPLC, GC, Automatic titration, Identification techniques
  • Experience with ICP, Ion Chromatography, XRD and LC/GC Mass Spectroscopy desirable
  • Experience with method validation, transfer and remediation preferred
    Excellent attention to detail, proven track record of RFT
  • Must have proven track record in problem resolution and must have been involved in identifying and implementing CAPA’s in the lab.
  • Demonstrated adherence to GLP & 5S
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills will be required.
  • Proficient in using analytical equipment in the QC lab
  • Proficient in data trending analysis
  • Must be familiar with the change control process
  • Must be familiar with the API and DP manufacturing processes and raw materials used therein
  • Must be familiar with the MIR / CIR data input and review
  • Minimum 4 years analytical experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record in analytical role.
  • Involvement in product transfers / method transfer experience preferred
  • Ability to present on area of responsibility during regulatory inspections and corporate audits if required.
