Our client now has a requirement for an Operations Area Manager to join their team.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. QUALITY
1. To be responsible for the quality of all study reports or contributions to reports, produced by the Veterinary & Interventional Surgical Services Division.
2. To be responsible for the quality of work produced by the Operating Area.
3. To ensure his/her own commitment to quality initiatives and to become involved in Task Forces (as required) in order to assist the Company in achieving its objectives.
4. To encourage his/her staff's involvement in and commitment to the Company's quality programme.
5. To ensure the conduct and completion of contracts in the Operating Area to a high quality standard, by the application of sound scientific method and proper control procedures.
6. To be responsible for the quality of all reports or contributions to reports, produced by the Operating Area.
7. To be responsible for ensuring that his/her work and that of his/her staff, is conducted in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and the principles of Good Laboratory Practice
8. To approve protocols, study plans and SOPs
9. To implement and supervise safe working methods within the Operating Area and to inform and instruct staff of these.
10. To act as Quality Control Manager as required by Standard Operating Procedures and the various regulatory bodies.
B. PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
1. To estimate and monitor the effort (hours) required on projects/studies and respond promptly to deviations from estimate.
2. To prepare long range plans for the Operating Area's activities and to determine future areas of activity for the Operating Area.
3. To ensure adequate facilities exist for the conduct of Operating Area activities.
4. For joint projects, ensure liaison with scientific personnel in other Operating Areas to ensure projects proceed in a satisfactory manner.
5. To ensure that regular information and feedback is provided to clients on projects being conducted.
6. To strive to maintain constructive relationships between his/her Operating Area and other related Operating Areas.
C. FINANCE
1. To prepare and agree Operating Areas budgets, financial targets and be responsible for the financial control of activities according to agreed objectives.
2. To co-ordinate, monitor and approve overtime slips and timesheets within his/her Operating Area.
3. To approve purchase requisitions to the agreed Operating Area Manager limit.
4. To assist with pricing decisions and approve project cost estimates of studies to be undertaken for his/her areas of responsibility.
D. MAN MANAGEMENT
1. To be responsible for the recruitment and allocation of staff. Ensure selection of staff is carried out in accordance with the Company's current agreed standards and techniques.
2. To plan and advice on the training and career development of his/her staff.
3. To conduct performance appraisals and set objectives for staff.
4. To conduct formal disciplinary meetings, as required.
5. To assist his/her Quality Control Supervisors in successful team building and in the motivation of all levels of staff.
6. To co-operate with other managers and colleagues to ensure the areas under his/her control inter-relate in the most appropriate and efficient manner with other activities within Pre-Clinical Europe Division.
7. To achieve effective use of staff and resources and to ensure staffs are well motivated, work efficiently, obtain job satisfaction and produce high quality work. Also to ensure that ‘Customer Care is given top priority in the services provided.
E. INFORMATION & MARKETING
1. To ensure that all sales and marketing activity for the Veterinary and Interventional Surgical Services Division are planned and implemented and that this is reviewed regularly to ensure that it is consistent with divisional and corporate objectives.
2. To keep abreast of the scientific literature relevant to the Operating Area's activities.
3. To establish and maintain links with scientific experts in his scientific discipline.
4. To receive ongoing training and maintain awareness of current GL, particularly as applied to Investigational Medicinal Products.
5. To attend conferences and undertake client visits in liaison with the Global Sales & Marketing Department.
6. To provide specialist advice, opinions and information to other Divisions and to clients as required.
