Our values, your values

Some people have the crazy idea that Microsoft is all about open doors and brainstorming around a whiteboard, or travelling the world and being rewarded for doing training courses you’ve asked to do or playing with XBoxes at work. But in reality that’s only half the picture!

In essence, Microsoft is all about a shared passion for technology. Not technology for its own sake but technology that is driven by the aspirations of our customers and that is accessible to absolutely everyone.

Microsoft is about being able to walk into anyone’s office any time. It’s about listening. How else would we know what those customer aspirations are? How else would we know what our own people want from us? They are our other great passion, and we value their opinions even more highly than the indirect feedback they give us when they consistently vote us one of Ireland’s Top 10 Companies to work for. (And believe us that’s something we value pretty highly!)

Our workplace

At Microsoft our whole working environment is designed to ensure you can do your best work free from stress and distractions, where and when you want to. Sit at your normal desk space, mull it over with a latte, or take your laptop to one of our free-thinking zones – it’s up to you.

Most working days begin with a commute, which can be a hassle for some people. Microsoft has a great, easy-to-reach location at Sandyford, which the new Luas trams will bring you to in around 30 minutes from central Dublin. If you’re driving, the M50 extension will make your life even easier, and we have ample parking when you arrive. Our flexible working environment allows you to start and finish when you need to, that way you manage your own timetable.

Once you’re here, we have new buildings equipped to the highest standards, office spaces that are light and airy, and plenty of relaxation areas for innovative thinking or for just chilling out. Our facilities and services are second to none, including a gym and fitness classes, occupational health, alternative therapies, well-being and parenting talks, financial advice, an Employee Assistance Program and a subsidised cafeteria offering a wide variety of meals. We even brought Starbucks to Ireland!

We believe it’s important for us to be a living case study when it comes to using our technology – so we can talk about it from first-hand experience. And we also believe our people deserve the best. Which means the most recent mobile devices and smart phones, wireless laptop internet onsite, and, of course, all our latest software.
