Based in the Shannon Industrial Estate, SCHWARZ PHARMA LTD is a multinational pharmaceutical company, which develops and markets innovative drugs for unmet medical needs; the company currently has six new drugs in clinical trails. SCHWARZ PHARMA LTD’s headquarters are near Düsseldorf in Germany, and the Irish operation has been located in Shannon, Co. Clare since 1976.

The Shannon site is the Group’s only Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturer and is entering an exciting new phase of development. It is the location for one of SCHWARZ PHARMA LTD’s Research and Development centres and is the only centre for scale-up where chemists and chemical engineers get an opportunity to work on the development and scale-up of new chemical entities for the group. As part of the investment in new products, the company will spend up to €70 million in Shannon over the next five to six years, introducing new technology and automation and upgrading the current site, offering exciting opportunities for Project engineers, Safety engineers and Automation technicians.

The Shannon operation is also expanding its focus, from Development & Manufacture into Sales, Marketing & Distribution, offering further opportunities for anyone interested in being involved in the start-up of the commercial side of the business.

The Shannon site currently employs 200 people and because of its relatively small size, employees get the opportunity to experience many different sectors of the business, rather than being pigeonholed as they might be in a much larger firm.
