Our Microsoft and Novell certified engineers provide everything from initial consultancy to installation and support of the most complex computer networks. We also provide network Internet Services, including: enabling, registration, LAN email, LAN browsing, firewalls, e-commerce and LAN security.

In addition to our on-site maintenance programs, we specialise in tailored support solutions, including the provision of temporary staff and out-tasking contracts to alleviate client bottlenecks, assist with transitional periods and provide much needed technical consultancy services.

Softech is Captaris's Irish Distributor for Rightfax and Unified Messaging software. Captaris is the leading independent provider of unified messaging for Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange users. This software allows for access to all messages - Voice, Fax, email and internet mail - in one inbox and makes them accessible from your workstation, notebook, PDA, mobile phone or the internet.

Training is available on-site or at our fully equipped facilities. We also provide specialist manpower to assist clients with installations, scripting and application re-engineering programs.

Softech's History

Softech was established in 1978 to supply microcomputers and educational software to schools and colleges. Based in Camden Street, Dublin 2, it soon became apparent that the main market would be business.

Appointed Irish Distributor for Apple Computers in 1980, Softech established a dealer network around Ireland and won the first major contract from the Irish Department of Education to supply Apple Computers to all Irish Schools.

In 1983, as one of Ireland's largest PC suppliers Softech, became a Digital Dealer for DEC Rainbow, DECmate and Profession range of office computers. Shortly after we were appointed an Authorised IBM Dealer.

Softech developed a number of successful software application products throughout the years. The most successful was in the area of telephone cost management. Ringmaster Software was a success from the very start. A separate company called Softech Telecom was set up and the Softech Group was born. Today, Softech Telecom is a separate company employing nearly 100 people and operating in over 40 countries.

In 1988 Softech added Unix multi-user Application Capabilities to its portfolio. Based on Altos Systems, and later Sun Microsystems, we were very successful in the development of bespoke applications, using programming tools such as Informix, Oracle, VB and Microsoft SQL. We specialised in producing small to medium sized client server and workflow applications tailored to our client's requirements.

Softech became experts in network implementations and partnered with Novell and Microsoft. As an Authorised Novell Reseller, Microsoft Solution Provider and Compaq System Reseller, we were able to provide the level of expertise to satisfy the most complicated networking requirements.

We started specialising in software applications with an emphasis on Imaging and Communications. In 1994, we became the Irish distributors for Rightfax from Captaris, Teleforms from Cardiff and Watermark from Filenet. Today, Rightfax is the best selling multi-channel fax server in Ireland. Our imaging applications have been so successful that, in 2001, we established a software development company called Inpute Technologies Limited, concentrating on bespoke applications in the document image processing area.

Over 25 years on, Softech is not only one of the oldest but also one of the most innovative, indigenous computer companies in Ireland. We continue to remain at the centre of the rapidly developing I.T. industry and are pushing the limits of technology further, searching for new and existing I.T. solutions for our customers.
