When Dr. Homer Stryker, an orthopaedic surgeon
from Kalamazoo, Michigan, found that certain medical products
were not
meeting his patients’ needs, he invented new ones. As
interest in these products grew, Dr. Stryker started a company
in 1941 to produce them. The company’s goal was to help

products and services that make surgery and recovery simpler,

Stryker Instruments
A division of the Stryker Corporation, Stryker Instruments is
known for a wide range of innovative operating room products,
from our leading power tools to advanced systems for waste management,
irrigation, personal protection and pain management. Stryker’s
goal is to improve the surgical experience – by developing
instruments that are more reliable, more intuitive and less
complicated to use. In addition to the Cork facility, we also
have manufacturing operations in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Puerto
Rico.
Stryker Instruments Ireland
Established in 1998 our Cork plant has successfully developed
a state of the art Research & Development and Manufacturing
facility for minimally invasive surgical instruments. These
products are used for cutting, drilling, burring and shaping
of bone and soft tissue during orthopaedic, spine, ear nose
and throat plastic surgery. Our R&D team is involved in
both product and process development with sole responsibility
for the development, pilot manufacturing, regulatory approval
and commercial manufacture of disposable bone and soft tissue
cutting instruments.
