So with recent studies showing which skills will help you most in getting a job, does location have an effect too?<\/p>\n<p>Savoy Stewart sought to find out by analysing recent Eurostat data. They can now reveal the countries in Europe with the highest and lowest graduate employment rates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where are the highest graduate employment rates?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Malta has the highest graduate employment rate across Europe! With a whopping 93.4% of recent graduates employed, it seems Malta\u2019s workforce is strong \u2013 the pandemic\u2019s effects on these numbers will be interesting to see.<\/p>\n<p>In second place is Germany with graduate employment at 92.7%. The stats are a testament to Germany\u2019s impressive education system and decade-long employment boom.<\/p>\n<p>Clinching third and fourth is the Netherlands at 91.9% and Iceland with an equally impressive 91.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Making the top ten countries with the highest graduate employment rates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Norway \u2013 90.5%<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Luxembourg \u2013 89.4%<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Austria \u2013 89%<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Sweden \u2013 88.7%<\/li>\n<li>Switzerland \u2013 87.9%<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Czechia \u2013 87.3%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Where are the lowest graduate employment rates?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Flipping the results, the European country with the worst employment rates for graduates is North Macedonia \u2013 a shockingly low 57.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Following North Macedonia is Turkey with 57.8%. Social unrest and political repercussions may be to blame for low numbers here.<\/p>\n<p>Also battling economic issues, Italy and Greece follow with 58.7% and 59.4%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Other European countries with low graduate employment rates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Montenegro \u2013 65.4%<\/li>\n<li>Serbia \u2013 66.5%<\/li>\n<li>France \u2013 75.7%<\/li>\n<li>Croatia \u2013 75.8%<\/li>\n<li>Romania \u2013 76.1%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please consult the attached dataset for all 35 countries considered in the study.<\/p>\n<p>To help recent graduates improve their job prospects, Darren Best from Savoy Stewart has provided his top tips on CV writing:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Be clear and concise<\/strong> \u2013 Hiring managers will likely be sifting through CVs even faster than usual, so initial<\/p>\n<p>appearances mean everything. Keep your CV concise with a mix of formats and the important info<\/p>\n<p>obvious, so the reader will focus on what matters most: your credentials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Be visible and shout your achievements<\/strong> \u2013 Make it easy for employers to find out more about you by<\/p>\n<p>creating a professional online profile (e.g. LinkedIn) and regularly update it with your latest achievements. Shouting about your success is a sure-fire way to grab someone\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Get creative<\/strong> \u2013 More and more people are growing to the concept of creative CVs. With such fierce<\/p>\n<p>competition out there, it may pay to take a risk and make you and your CV more visible. Try new<\/p>\n<p>templates and (especially for a creative role) alternative ways of applying for a job and you might stand<\/p>\n<p>out!<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Highlight relevant experiences<\/strong> \u2013 With more people out of employment, there may be higher qualified<\/p>\n<p>individuals going after the same jobs as you.
