{"id":8045,"date":"2023-11-14T15:40:33","date_gmt":"2023-11-14T15:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.recruitireland.com\/advice-centre\/?p=8045"},"modified":"2023-11-14T15:40:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T15:40:33","slug":"new-online-programme-will-bring-business-leaders-up-to-speed-with-mandatory-eu-reporting-practices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.recruitireland.com\/advice-centre\/new-online-programme-will-bring-business-leaders-up-to-speed-with-mandatory-eu-reporting-practices\/","title":{"rendered":"New online programme will bring business leaders up to speed with mandatory EU reporting practices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Irish Times Training are hosting an intensive online programme this month, which will help business leaders get to grips with the recent mandatory EU CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).<\/p>\n<p>The directive updates and replaces the existing Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and comes into effect from January 2024 &#8211; though experts predict this will be a significant challenge for large Irish companies and international businesses based in Ireland.<\/p>\n<h3>Regulations and compliance<\/h3>\n<p>The new regulation contains a new principle of \u2018double materiality\u2019, which\u00a0requires companies to report on how climate change and other sustainability issues impact their business and how their own operations affect the wider environment and people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCSRD is designed to make corporate sustainability reporting more common, consistent and standardised \u2013 in a similar vein to financial accounting and reporting,\u201d\u202fsaid Mary Whitelaw, chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer at AIB in the Sustainability Ireland magazine published in The Irish Times this week.<\/p>\n<p>About 10,000 companies across the EU will be affected by the new regulations which affects listed companies in the EU that exceed two of the following thresholds: 250 employees; \u20ac40 million in annual net turnover; and\/or \u20ac20 million balance-sheet total.
