Fertility-treatment specialist, Sims IVF Group, has strengthened its medical team with key new hires in its Cork and Dublin clinics.
\nFertility experts Dr Moses Batwala and Dr Karlo Tomicic bring significant experience to the Sims IVF Group, a pioneer in fertility treatment since its launch in 1997. As well as its Cork and Dublin clinics, the group also has a satellite clinic in Carlow.
\nDr Moses Batwala has been appointed clinical director of the Cork clinic. Dr Karlo Tomicic, an obstetrician and gynaecology specialist, will be based at the Clonskeagh clinic in Dublin. The group now has 11 fertility experts across its three clinics in Ireland.
\nDr Batwala joins from IVF London, in the UK, where he served as medical director. Prior to this, he was the lead fertility consultant in Evewell Clinic and Create Fertility, in London. He has a specialist interest in mild stimulation, treating women with low-ovarian reserve and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT).
\nFrom 2014 -2016, he was a senior clinical research fellow at the University of Oxford, Institute of Reproductive Sciences (IRS), and completed a master of science by research (MSc by research) in obstetrics and gynaecology in quality of life of fertility patients.
\nDr Batwala graduated from the University of Leeds in medicine and surgery with honours in biochemistry in 2001.
\nDr Karlo Tomicic joins the Sims IVF team from University Hospital Centre Zagreb, where he worked in the department of gynaecology and obstetrics for nearly 10 years.
\nDuring this time, he worked in endoscopic surgery, involving laparoscopic and hysteroscopy procedures for treatment of uterine polyps, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometriosis.
\nIn 2015, he began working in the fertility unit, combining surgery with assisted reproductive treatments. Dr Tomicic graduated from the School of Medicine in University of Zagreb in 2005.<\/p>\n
