No Irish horses to travel to Cheltenham

Thursday, March 01, 2001
No Irish horses will travel to this year's Cheltenham Festival.

Members of the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association met at the Curragh this afternoon and bowed to government pressure with no sign of a let up in the foot and mouth outbreak.

The Association has also advised punters not to travel to Cheltenham as the risk of bringing the disease back into the country is too great.
