Mullaghmore centre to be torn down

Sunday, February 04, 2001
The controversial Co Clare tourist centre at Mullaghmore is to be demolished, at a cost of £850,000.

Construction of the partly-built interpretation centre in the heart of the Burren was stopped after a High Court challenge in 1994.

The centre is to levelled and its adjoining car-park broken up.

An Bord Pleanala last year ordered that the site should be restored to its original state by the end of May.
