Dando murder trial adjourned

The Old Bailey trial of the man accused of murdering Jill Dando has been adjourned until April 23.

Barry George, 40, from Fulham, west London, has denied murdering 37-year-old Ms Dando on the doorstep of her home in Fulham on April 26, 1999.

Prosecuting will be senior Treasury counsel Orlando Pownall, while Michael Mansfield QC is defending George.

Mr Justice Gage is the presiding judge. The trial is expected to last up to six weeks.

Reasons for the adjournment cannot be reported under a Contempt of Court order made by Mr Justice Gage.

The adjournment follows four days of legal arguments.
