Irish CV Format

Q. I am a 39 year old construction professional in the concrete industry. My wife is a registered nurse. We were considering moving to Galway Ireland. Would my C.V. need to be re-written to be more attractive to businesses in the Ireland area. Or would the typical American format be OK? Darby

A. It is difficult to comment when I have not seen the actual CV. American and Irish CV’s normally contain similar information – Personal Details, Education & Training, Work History and Additional Information. I assume that your CV has all of the above.

One comment though is to translate language, terminology and qualifications into those used in Ireland to help the reader. Also ensue that your first page makes an impact and gives the reader relevant information immediately. I would also recommend you have a strong cover letter with particular focus on your commitment to relocate.
