Q: I was employed on a fixed term contract for 16 months. At the end of this time the post was re-advertised. A colleague, from another section who already had a permanent contract, was awarded the one year fixed term contract. There wAS no performance related issues during my period of employment. The colleagues previous post was not advertised and I was informed that it would be dealt with internally. Is this practice above board?

A: Once the employer notified you that the position was being re-advertised after the end of your fixed term contract, then the procedure followed would appear to be above board.
