Rugby: Lions tour not under threat from foot and mouth

Thursday, March 01, 2001
Australian rugby bosses insist this summers British Lions tour Down Under is not under threat from the foot and mouth outbreak.

They have been assured by the Australian Quarantine Service that no one will be stopped from entering the country.

Australia has been free of foot and mouth disease for more than 100 years, and there were concerns that around 10,000 British Lions supporters could spread the disease.
