Q. Why do companies use competency interviews?- Brian

A. Companies use competency interviews because they want to be sure that the people they employ have the necessary skills to be successful in their roles. Competencies are the key skills and qualities that you will have to display in the role. For example, it may be ‘teamwork’ ‘organisational skills’ ‘initiative.’ An interviewer will ask questions directly or indirectly related to these areas and candidates will need to demonstrate, by giving examples, their effectiveness in these areas.
