Irish Job Interviews

Thursday, April 17, 2014

Q. What sort of interviews are more frequently held in Ireland (group interview, assessment center activities, escaled interviews)? Is there any specific topic which differs from the British model? And from the European?- Jaime

A. The types of interviews carried out in Ireland, are industry and role specific. A trend in recent years has been towards competency based interviews. Whilst competency based interviews have been the norm in the private sector they are now becoming the norm in the public sector also. It is normal to have at least two interviewers and most interviews are individual as opposed to several people being interviewed at the same time. Group assessment, psychometric testing and emotional intelligence testing are becoming more common.
