Fisheries board recommends break

The Central Fisheries Board has confirmed that it has recommended to anglers that all inland and sea angling be abandoned because of the foot and mouth epidemic.

Angling information officer Paul Burke said the board had made its recommendation as fisheries in counties Kerry, Galway and Mayo close to anglers today.

The Department of Agriculture is expected to announce a ban on all inland fishing in the next hour.
