Commentary on Multilingual Roles and Remuneration in Ireland for 2017

From companies looking to trade internationally we have seen a continued high demand for German, Dutch and Nordic speakers, at entry and junior level. These skill sets are in a short supply. Candidates with Mediterranean and Eastern European languages are still in demand, however there has been somewhat of an oversupply in this area. Over 60% of candidates placed into entry level roles are sourced from overseas  These jobs seekers are looking for a career change with a view to career progression within 12 to 18 months.

Most in demand roles have been sales & business development, particularly within SaaS sales with a focus on new business, customer service and technical support. Salaries have remained overall steady with a slight increase seen in software sales and more senior or specialist roles for the in-demand languages. Employers need to consider offering attractive benefits to secure talent, and more an increasing number of companies are introducing attractive relocation packages and completion bonus to ensure fulfillment of roles.

We will continue to see a demand for foreign language skills in Ireland through 2017 for permanent and contract roles as companies continue to invest in new business.
