Grants Officer

Location: South Dublin

Salary: €Neg DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Initial point of contact for public sector funding agencies, Irish universities, Institutes of technology and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating the financial management and administration of a number of research based projects across multiple funding Programmes, including:
1. Pre Grant Award financial administration and reporting control

2. Post Grant Award financial administration and reporting control including:

  • Co-ordination of processing, reviewing and certification of grant claims submissions
  • Management of query process and provision of technical support to funding bodies and other stakeholders
  • Management of multiple funding programs including, recommitment and compliance
  • Provision of on-going support and advice to funding bodies and other stakeholders
  • Management and completion of audits of multiple research programmes performed by Third Level Universities and Institutes of Technology, on behalf of national and EU funding Agencies
  • Supervision and review of audit teams
  • Co-ordination and scheduling of audit resources.
  • Review of other teams members work and preparation of compliance reports
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualification / Experience:

  • Third level qualification or equivalent, ideally in a business related area
  • Recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, CPA) or currently at advanced stages of same
  • Clear understanding of national and EU funding programs and audit requirements thereof
  • Understanding of on-line grant management portals would be desirable
  • Familiarity with third level research accounting functions and processes

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to deal with queries both over the phone and in person
  • Ability to organise workload and manage project teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to take decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail with an ability to use initiative and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and good working knowledge of other MS Office applications

Role requires intermittent travel to client premises which may be located within the 26 counties. This travel is usually undertaken by the employee using their own car.
