Senior PC Tools Software Engineer

Location: Shrewsbury (UK) based with requirement to work in Newtown on a regular basis.

Salary: €Neg DOE

Our client is a leading provider of sophisticated automation equipment, used in commercial and industrial applications. Their innovative products are used in the most demanding applications requiring performance, reliability and energy efficiency to enhance the productivity of their customers' machines and processes.

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate is a university graduate, with a good degree in Computing or a related degree such as a Science degree who has a knowledge of and enthusiasm for software development.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • The role will involve aspects of GUI development together with an appreciation of real-time programming.
  • To help specify and implement designs.
  • When needed provide technical leadership for other developers and lead teams of developers on a project.
  • Ensure the project and design is carried out in accordance with defined company processes.
  • Document designs for record keeping and peer review.
  • Interface with external suppliers and other departments within the business.
  • Working to agreed timescales & project plans.

Qualifications, Experience and profile:

  • At least 4 years design experience in PC Applications Development in Visual C#/ Winforms and/ or C#/ WPF/ Silverlight.
  • Strong theoretical and practical design skills in modern PC software development, e.g. in .Net and pattern-based development.
  • Knowledge of composable application design, .Net 4.0 and MEF is desirable though not essential.
  • Engineering, automation control background is desirable.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with project teams of designers, developers, testers and other business groups.
  • Experience with multiple delivery methodologies including SCRUM and SDLC waterfall.
  • Knowledge of developing web applications, e.g. using HTML, JQuery and/ or mobile applications is desirable though not essential.
  • Self motivated, capable or working with minimal supervision to achieve targets.
  • Good Team working and communication skills (both verbal and written) which ensure an effective role in multi-skilled project teams.
