Job Description

  • Review, draft, and negotiate Procurement contracts across a variety of spend areas, but with a focus on Technology (software, hardware, software-as-a-service, cloud, hosting, consulting services, and telecommunications).
  • Provide advice and contract interpretation on the provisions of specific agreements as well as legal issues that might impact the business organizations.
  • Secure proper approval on nonstandard legal, financial, information security, technical and business issues raised in contract documents.
  • Review, analyze, and redline standard contracts and vendor agreements.
  • Participate on departmental and cross-functional teams focused on continuous process improvement.
  • Assure conformity and consistency in application of procurement, legal, and security policies and practices.
  • Monitor compliance with existing contractual obligations; monitor supplier performance and track cost savings opportunities.
  • Act as liaison with internal organizations to ensure timely processing and dissemination of relevant contractual information.
Development and management of RFI / RFQ / RFP's as required by business process owners and as directed by Category Managers for all spend areas across the Americas / EMEA.

  • Able to establish and negotiate cost effective multi-site purchase agreements
  • Supporting and guiding the operational buying team as required
  • Supporting category managers with spend data analytics and development of Category plans, including ad hoc projects that may require immediate attention.
  • Interacting with vendors and customers for day-to-day activities under Category Manager direction
  • Reviewing contract / terms and conditions redlines from suppliers and through use of playbooks negotiate or escalate to category managers and legal.
  • Ensure contract database is kept up to date with all signed agreements uploaded, and all data fields completed.
  • Actioning contract renewals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Business/Legal Knowledge. The individual will have direct work experience which provides an understanding of most relevant contracting principles and experience applying this knowledge to contracting activities.
  • Contracting Practices. The individual will be familiar with general contracting practices.
  • Communication and Influence. The individual will have strong communication skills, including the ability to professionally and concisely communicate (in writing and verbally) complex legal and business issues with senior staff both inside and outside the company.
  • Critical Thinking. The individual will have a track record of conducting careful and thoughtful analysis of complex technology agreements and the ability to weigh and articulate the risk and reward of various scenarios.
  • Organizational Abilities. The individual will have well developed organizational and prioritization abilities allowing for the smooth and simultaneous management of multiple projects with complex and demanding deadlines.
  • Adaptability. The individual will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to successfully manage frequent changes in priorities, deadlines, and workload.
  • Relationship Management. The individual will have successfully operated in a team setting and been able to foster strong relationships with coworkers, suppliers, customers and other department members.
Skills Required:

The individual should have a degree of expertise in all of the following areas with demonstrable strength in key areas:

Contracting Skills:

  • Documented and hands-on experience handling contracts (including software, hardware, software-as-a service, cloud, hosting, consulting services, and telecommunications)
  • The ability to understand standard contract provisions
  • The ability to draft and negotiate language (including preparation of all contract redlines)
  • Direct experience negotiating Technology transactions with major suppliers
General Business skills:

  • Concisely convey ideas both in writing and verbally
  • Understand corporate structure and organization charts
  • Negotiate to a specific goal with little supervision
  • Operate well in a team environment - doing what it takes to "get the job done"
  • Anticipate and be responsive to customer/client requirements


Education:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Paralegal certificate, contracts, or corporate law experience required. Degree in Law or Procurement helpful.
