Job Description

Heat Merchants Group is one of the largest suppliers of heating, plumbing, tiles and sanitary ware to the trade and retail markets in Ireland. 100% Irish owned with 43 branches nationwide.

Overall purpose of role: Develop, manage, and measure the performance of both the Business Development Managers and Branch Managers within the Region. To expand, develop and drive sales of Heating and Plumbing within the region.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and measure performance of Branch Managers against main KPI’s of EBIT, Sales, Margin, Debtors, Stock, Health and Safety and People Management
  • To manage and measure performance of Business Development Managers against KPI’s.
  • To be accountable for the achievement of KPI’s within the Region
  • Proactively develop new business relationships in Dublin and surrounding areas with Builders, Plumbers and Specialist Sub-Contractors.
  • Develop relationships with the existing customer base ensuring that, in particular, the top customers are met on a regular basis by you and jointly by you and the relevant BDM.
  • To ensure that Branch Managers, Staff and Business Development Managers work as a team within the Region and promote sharing of leads.
  • To assist with the development of all employees within the Region, working together with Human Resources on implementing training needs identified.
  • Negotiate prices with customers whilst meeting agreed sales and margin targets.
  • Producing quotations as and when required and following up on quotes won/lost and reasons why through discussion with Managers and BDM’s
  • To provide reports/ information as requested by management and participate in monthly Management meetings
  • Adherence to the Company credit policy
  • Adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by management that are within your capability to perform.

The successful candidate must have;

  • Previous recent experience in sales and management at a senior level (minimum 2 years)
  • Previous recent experience in managing and developing large teams
  • Proven track record on achieving targets and delivering results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A customer centred focus and be results/target driven.
  • Full valid driver’s License.
Preference will be given to those candidates who, in addition to the above, have knowledge and experience within the heating and plumbing industry.
