FRS Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Quality Lab Manager to manage & oversee the running of a commercial laboratory. This is a full-time permanent role and based in County Carlow.

Overview

My client provides provide a comprehensive range of testing for the Agricultural and Environmental sectors in Ireland. Agricultural testing includes testing soil for a number of nutrients along with trace elements to ensure optimum growth for all crops. Other services include providing environmental testing on water for a range of tests including dangerous substances, organic pollutants & toxic substances.

Key Responsibilities - Quality

  • Familiar with Quality Systems: ISO 17025, ISO 9001
  • Be main contact for INAB and be familiar with the INAB CRM system.
  • Responsible for compliance with regulatory commitments e.g. INAB, in-house requirements & GMP.
  • Responsible for the continuous review of the CAPA & Internal & Compliance programs.
  • Ensures that the internal audit schedule is executed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Introduction of quality systems in line with industry practices and GMP requirements.
  • Reviews subcontractors, suppliers and service providers' quality systems to ensure that purchased products fully complies with the specified requirements.
  • Preparation of procedures and policies for area of responsibility.
  • Investigate customer complaints within a timely manner.
  • Maintain PT schemes within the laboratory and investigate all non-conforming results.
  • Be familiar with laboratory instrumentation e.g., ICPMS, ICPOES, discrete analyser, continuous flow analyser.
  • Be familiar with laboratory LIMS packages.
  • Preparation and execution of training programmes.
  • Validation of laboratory methods: Define process, ensure best practise is adhered to and ensure all validation is acceptable to INAB. Prepare validation documentation.
  • Support the updating of Standard Operating Procedures, Test Support Documents, Data Capture Sheets, Analytical Standards, protocols and associated reports and any other documentation/ administration of these documents.
  • Drive continuous improvement for all aspects of documentation control/ archival.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated internally/externally as per laboratory requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Micro

  • Conduct microbiology analysis including Colilert testing for Total Coliforms, Ecoli, Enterococci and TVC 22 on waters as well as Salmonella and Ecoli on sludges.
  • Carry out environmental monitoring within the microbiology laboratory.
  • Ensure all QC data is transferred correctly to QC charts. Ensure QC charts are kept within limits.
  • Inform customers of out of specification results.
  • Perform analytical testing with accuracy working across various areas of the laboratory.
  • Perform tests they are qualified to do within chemistry section, to include soil and water analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and use initiative to solve problems.
  • Carry out method validation and write laboratory SOP's as required within all areas.
  • Identify any opportunity for improvement of quality and service and work with the team to implement continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3rd level qualification in a relevant science discipline
  • Experience in Quality Management and Micro testing in an analytical laboratory
  • Proven microbiology experience
  • Experience in ICPMS, ICPOES and GCMS would be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge on regulatory requirements
