APPOINTMENT OF A NON-JUDICIAL MEMBER OF THE TRUTH RECOVERY REDRESS SERVICE

The Executive Office (TEO) is seeking to appoint a Non-Judicial Member of the Truth Recovery Redress Service. The Northern Ireland Assembly has completed its Assembly stages of the Inquiry (Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses) and Redress Scheme Bill and it is anticipated that it will become law this summer. A Truth Recovery Redress Service will then be established which will determine applications for payment to those admitted to (and those born to a woman in) a relevant institution or their eligible relatives. As this post is for a non-judicial member, those who are legally qualified or were employed or volunteered in any of the relevant institutions at any time, are ineligible to apply. In order to apply you must have a professional qualification in the field of health and social care and/or experience gained in the delivery of trauma related services. Eligible candidates must also have experience of working with, and understanding the concerns and needs of, victims and survivors of complex trauma; effective communications; collaborating and influencing; and assessing information, analytical thinking and effective decision making on challenging issues. A daily rate of £500 will be paid in respect of their time spent attending to Redress Service business. The member will be expected to be available to sit a maximum of five days each calendar month. Redress Service members are appointed for a period of up to 5 years. Travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.
