The next Census of Population will be held during April and May 2027. This will be the first census to have both online and paper census forms. The Central Statistics Office is looking for people who have extensive senior managerial experience to work full-time on a temporary, fixed-purpose contract which will begin in September/October 2026 and finish in June 2027. Successful applicants will manage the census field staff at national and regional level. The work will be challenging and varied.
The positions to be filled are:
6 Census Liaison Officers - annual equivalent salary €59,435
46 Census Regional Supervisors - annual equivalent salary €38,419
Census Liaison Officers are based in the Central Statistics Office, Swords, Co Dublin
Census Regional Supervisors are based in their homes throughout the country.
It should be noted that applications for the above positions can only be made online through census.ie from 9am on 22 April 2026. The closing date for receipt of applications is 2pm on 06 May 2026, or when the total number of applications received reaches 1,200, whichever is the earlier.

Only one application form is required (even if applying for both positions).
Shortlisting will apply and it is hoped that interviews will be held in June 2026.
