Position Overview
As the CEO, you will guide the organisation through the next phase of its development. Economic instability and significant changes to foreign aid budgets, necessitate a transformative approach whilst ensuring the delivery of effective programming. In collaboration with a highly skilled and dedicated leadership team, you will cultivate a high-performance organisational culture, building capability as you go. You will refocus on revenue generation, whilst driving efficiency through a step-change in our approach to systems and processes, fostering innovation and adaptability to enhance our global impact. You will enhance GOAL’s reputation as a global humanitarian agency by managing diverse relationships with strategic global stakeholders and developing its footprint with key corporate partners.
Key Responsibilities
• STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP: Provide overall strategic direction, ensuring alignment of GOAL’s mission with operational goals. Enhance frameworks to drive organisational impact, effectiveness, and accountability across global operations. Navigate global disruption, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and explore new opportunities.
• PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT & IMPACT: Provide strategic oversight to programme leadership teams, ensuring effectiveness in delivery, innovative thinking, and agility in decision-making.
• OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE: Lead the transformation of operational systems and processes to deliver greater efficiencies and effectiveness. Promote a global culture of data-driven decision-making.
• ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE & LEADERSHIP: Foster a positive, performance-oriented organisational culture while developing leadership capabilities across all levels. Inspire and empower employees to perform at their best.
• FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP: Oversee the optimisation of financial systems, management, and performance. Ensure timely delivery of data for agile management and prompt decision-making.
• FUNDRAISING: Transform fundraising strategies and diversify funding streams from institutional, corporate, and private donors to create long-term sustainability. Enhance the culture of partnership across the organisation.
• STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Lead and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Advisory Boards, donors, governments, and other strategic partners.
• EXTERNAL AFFAIRS: Enhance GOAL’s humanitarian reputation and visibility by developing a robust external affairs plan. Represent the organisation at relevant events, conferences, and partnership meetings.
• CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Provide strong leadership during times of crisis, ensuring quick and effective responses to emerging challenges. Foster a culture of adaptability and perseverance.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
• Proven experience as a CEO or in a senior executive role in international markets (Africa, Americas or Middle East).
• Previous experience working in the international humanitarian sector.
• Strong financial acumen.
• Deep understanding of global organisational systems.
• A proven track record in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Extensive international and crisis management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
