The Team

The People and Capability Office has overall responsibility for crafting and implementing a vision for organisational transformation, driving initiatives that support EirGrid strategic goals in people management, internal communications, and process enhancement.

The People and Capability Office plays a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of EirGrid's evolution, facilitating cultural change, and building and enabling a high-performance environment. From talent development to employee engagement, the People and Capability Office leads the charge in creating a motivated workforce and delivering best-practice HR policies and solutions.

EirGrid prides itself on the positive working environment it provides its people through best-in-class workplace facilities at its offices with headquarters in Dublin and new regional office in Cork.  The People and Capability Office ensures that the standards of property and facilities are maintained by leveraging the services of third-party providers in a cost-effective manner.

Job Purpose

The Head of Facilities Management will play a strategic role in enabling EirGrid to effectively and efficiently manage organisational health & safety, building and facilities assets, and physical security.

The role holder will be responsible for the management of the workplace facilities, security and health & safety centres of expertise. The objective of ensuring a best in class, safe and positive employee experience for all our employees both on-site at our offices and those working from home. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that the work environment is safe, risks are minimised and that EirGrid is compliant with all relevant health & safety regulations & legislation. The role holder will be required to have a combination of professional and industry knowledge, management skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organisation.

A significant proportion of the services will be delivered through third party service providers based either on or off site.  The role holder will be required to ensure that the best services are delivered through these providers in a cost effective manner.

This role is a member of EirGrid’s People & Capability leadership team and as such is expected to proactively contribute to the overall achievement of business objectives.

Critical knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experienced professional with experience leading a Facilities Management function.
  • Strategic space mapping along with new building set ups.
  • An understanding of health & safety legislation
  • Experience in facilities management and vendor management
  • Experience of leading and influencing high performing teams in changing circumstances
  • Strong process and operational excellence skills, with prior experience of managing in a service delivery/operations delivery environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Ability to develop networks and relationships within the EirGrid.
  • Customer focussed with a continuous improvement outlook.
