Despatch Manager

About Your New Job

  • As the Despatch Manager, you will lead and supervise the despatch and cold room teams, ensuring smooth, accurate, and efficient dispatch of all goods from the site.
  • Allocate daily tasks, oversee staff performance, and provide training and support where needed.
  • Coordinate daily with the production team to align dispatch with production schedules, proactively flagging any issues.
  • Manage stock control and rotation (FIFO), conduct regular stock counts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate records of all incoming and outgoing stock and movements.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and housekeeping within the dispatch and cold room areas.
  • Liaise with Accounts and Transport to resolve discrepancies, organise deliveries and collections, and ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, oversee the completion of responsibilities, and step in to assist staff when necessary.

What Skills You Need

  • Proven supervisory experience within a fast-paced supply chain, logistics, or food production environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to proactively manage people, product, and process.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with multiple teams (production, accounts, transport).
  • Experience with stock rotation (FIFO), stock control, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to maintain high hygiene standards and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Proficient in delegating tasks while retaining overall accountability.
