About Your New Job as a Senior R&D Engineer:

  • Design and develop new medical devices from the initial concept phase through design freeze, verification, and validation, and finally into the commercialization phase.
  • Work from basic clinical needs through opportunity assessment and device concept to prototype.
  • Represent the company while interacting with physicians to distill their needs into product requirements and concepts.
  • Participate in technical innovation across the department.
  • Identify and mitigate technological risks throughout the design process.
  • Apply understanding of anatomy & physiology with engineering knowledge in materials and processes to produce working designs.
  • Interface effectively and build relationships with team members, other staff, and key technology and component suppliers, both locally and globally.
  • Contribute to resolving technical obstacles with existing designs and support portfolio sustaining activities.
  • Contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
  • Delegate/direct work of experienced engineers and provide coaching/guidance to less experienced team members.

What Skills You Need for the Senior R&D Engineer:

  • Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant direct engineering experience within a medical device environment.
  • Dynamic team player who can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams and across organizational boundaries.
  • Medical device product development experience is desirable.
  • Technical experience in DOE (Design of Experiments), Six Sigma, DFM, etc.
  • Experience in interfacing with physicians and translating feedback into device concepts.
