Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

A Lead Mechanical Design Engineer is needed by CareerWise Recruitment for our Cork based electronics client. The person will lead a small team of mechanical engineers for all product design and development activities.

THE ROLE:

• Lead the mechanical engineering function and mentor a small team of engineers.

• Drive mechanical design activities across new and existing products.
• Lead product development projects from concept through to production release.
• Take ownership for identifying opportunities to improve product performance, development processes, manufacturing efficiency and engineering capability.
• Support the development of semiconductor packaging, MEMS devices, photonics products and advanced electronic assemblies.
• Design and support tooling, fixtures, manufacturing processes and packaging solutions to enable efficient product introduction and scale-up.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
• Ideally a minimum of 5+ years’ relevant industry experience.
• Proven experience delivering products from concept through to manufacture.
• Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent).
• Good understanding of plastics processing, metal stamping and related manufacturing technologies.
• Role will be office based in Cork and candidates must be authorised to work in Ireland
